My primary motivation for creating the Campus Media Leadership Scholarship was a desire to give something back to the College by helping outstanding students pursue their education without having to take on a lot of student debt. During my 32-year career at Geneseo, most of that time as Vice President for College Advancement, I was privileged to work closely with four Presidents and many wonderful staff and faculty to promote greater recognition and increased private support for the College. Geneseo was a great place to go to work each day with so many colleagues who shared a desire and commitment to make good things happen. I got to know many student leaders over the years and was always impressed with those students who were involved in various campus media organizations with a desire to pursue careers in communications. I also met many successful alumni in the Rochester area and beyond who had built successful careers in communications. By endowing this scholarship, my wife Pam and I hoped to help worthy students enjoy their ‘Geneseo experience’ and pursue their career goals.-Art Hatton
