Why did you choose to create a scholarship at SUNY Geneseo?
My parents were always strong advocates for education, and linked with the great personal and professional growth that I experienced at Geneseo, it seemed like a logical thing to do to recognize them.

What would you want the recipients of this scholarship to know about the person for whom it is named?
They were both individuals who worked hard, enjoyed life to the fullest, and provided their children with a great environment in which to grow up. Even while running several businesses, they found time share with us the importance of family and friends and to encourage us to take opportunities to expand our life experiences.

Tell us about your Geneseo memory, favorite tradition, or what Geneseo has meant to you.
Involvement in student government and student activities with Tom Matthews as a mentor and role model. This gave me the skill set to be successful working for over 40 years in higher education.

What do you hope your recipients gain through this scholarship?
Hopefully having to work a few less hours and to get involved in life outside of the classroom. There is as much, if not more, to learn there interacting with others, testing personal skills, and developing self-confidence.
