Julia Pettis 2022 Memorial Scholarship Endowment in Psychology
Why did you choose to create a scholarship at SUNY Geneseo?
This scholarship was created after Julia passed away at the very young age of 22. Julia loved her time at Geneseo, she truly found her place after she switched to psychology major. Knowing
how important Geneseo was for Julia, it made sense to us to start a scholarship for students majoring in psychology.
What would you want the recipients of this scholarship to know about the person for whom it is named?
Julia had a lifelong passion for SUNY Geneseo and especially for psychology studies, thanks to her overwhelming desire to help people. She loved her family and friends.
Julia was driven, focused, and dedicated to everything she set her mind on doing. She earned a black belt in karate at the age of sixteen. She loved animals of all kinds, a
gentle soul and a free spirit always up for an adventure. Julia literally lit up the room with her smile and energy.
What do you hope your recipients gain through this scholarship?
We hope this scholarship provides financial relief for the recipients and gives them the opportunity for intellectual and personal growth.
