Kelsey Annese '16
Why did you choose to create a scholarship at SUNY Geneseo?
We chose to create this scholarship in honor of Kelsey because she loved everything about SUNY Geneseo: her basketball team, her educational experiences, the friends that she made, as well as the town.
What would you want the recipients of this scholarship to know about the person for whom it is named?
Kelsey was a caring and loving member of a large extended family. She was an outstanding student, a selfless and dedicated leader on the Women’s Basketball team and just as selfless and dedicated as a friend. She held two jobs while she achieved all of her amazing accomplishments. She possessed a great sense of humor (with a honed skill in sarcasm) and her smile lit up the room. One of her most impressive qualities that helped her excel in all of those areas was that she did not hesitate to step out of her comfort zone in order to make herself a better person.
Tell us about your Geneseo memory, favorite tradition, or what Geneseo has meant to you.
The people of Geneseo have shown our family so much kindness and compassion. It is the “community” feeling of the combined university and town that make this such a special place.
What do you hope your recipients gain through this scholarship?
It is our hope that this scholarship can ease some of the financial burden for recipients who share Kelsey’s passion for life and learning
