Why did you choose to create a scholarship at SUNY Geneseo?
I had an incredible college experience while attending SUNY Geneseo, and that experience also provided me a spring board into my career at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch. I was introduced to the manager that hired me through a college friend, and 28+ years later I am still here!

What would you want the recipients of this scholarship to know about the person for whom it is named?
In the name of my wife and me. We wanted to find a way to give back to our Alma Maters.

Tell us about your Geneseo memory, favorite tradition, or what Geneseo has meant to you.
The Geneseo landscape & sunsets, the many lifelong friendships I created, Phi Kappa Sigma (now Chi), my job at GEO Hangers on Main Street, living in Erie Dorm and then ending up in a house on Bank Street, an opportunity to study & travel abroad, a fantastic education and professors that prepared me well for my career, and general life as a college student!

What do you hope your recipients gain through this scholarship?
Opportunity. Everyone deserves one! I grew up in a small town in Western NY (Lockport); I was the first person in my family that had the opportunity to pursue a 4-year college degree. I worked 1, 2, and sometimes 3 jobs during school and on breaks to help my parents pay for college. I remember also earning a small Science Scholarship upon graduating from high school. I used it to buy my first Mac computer – remember the old ‘3.5 inch floppy disks’??! I used the computer religiously in college – back then computers weren’t as accessible. It helped me to become a much better student & writer (and also helped me meet lots of ‘friends in need of a computer’ early in my freshman year). Everyone deserves an opportunity!
