James A. and Barbara J. Walker Music Scholarship Endowment

The James A. and Barbara J. Walker Music Annual Scholarship Fund provides at least a $1,000 scholarship and was established by spouses James A. and Barbara J. Walker. James A. Walker is a Distinguished Service Professor of Music Emeritus. Additional scholarships may be awarded at the minimum level dependent upon available funds.
CRITERIA: This scholarship is awarded to a student(s) who a) is incoming or currently enrolled, b) participates in the Geneseo Symphony Orchestra and studies privately with Music Department applied faculty.
PROCESS: 1) One or more scholarship(s) of equivalent value may be awarded annually. 2) Scholarship(s) may be renewable dependent on the fund’s annual available earnings. 3) The award(s) renewal is contingent upon the recipient(s) successful participation in the
Geneseo Symphony Orchestra and successful completion of private study with Music Department Faculty during the current funded term. The student must be in good academic standing, as per the College’s definition of “good standing” at the time of renewal.
SELECTED BY: The conductor of the Geneseo Symphony Orchestra in consultation with appropriate members of the Music Department and the Office of Financial Aid.
